Logic, scripts & actions

xxter offers a powerful engine to quickly add extensive intelligence for a home or building automation. Logic is available in different ways: in the logic module, in scripts and in actions. The logic module provides canvasses where you can drag and drop logic blocks and connect them to create advanced automations. With scripts it is possible to create small programs or logical functions, which can perform actions or calculations. Triggers and actions allow you to set up any event that should trigger something else in the installation. Logic, scripts and actions can of course be combined, which makes it possible, for instance, to calculate the average light intensity and use that to close all the sun screens, but only on working days, or to create playful color sequences that are triggered when movement is detected in a room.

Logic module

With the xxter logic module you can create and test logic schematics in an intuitive graphical environment, and apply it in the home or building automation. Available logic blocks range from simple AND or OR ports, to more advanced blocks like virtual dimmers, timers, and curve alterations. As inputs, you can use elements from the installation, but also time or external triggers to initiate the logic. By combining multiple blocks in one schema, you can create complex automations. For all these features, there is a separate manual available and on the xxter forum you can share your knowledge and questions with others.

  • Intuitive graphical environment
  • Online simulator to directly test your logic
  • Many different logic blocks available
  • Control everything in the installation, including Sonos
  • Combine logic with scenarios and scripts
  • Separate manual available

Scripts

With xxter scripts you can make your smart home or building even smarter. Create your own small programs and logic modules within xxter, which are very flexible to use. xxter supports the generic script language Lua, as well as a native logical scripting language. Using calculations, conversions and equations on values allows you to achieve complex functionality in an easy way, which would not be possible without xxter and does not require separate physical components. It is even possible to use the expected weather information in the logic. With the extensive logbook function you can verify exactly what happens in a script to verify it is functioning properly. There are separate manuals available for scripts and on the xxter forum we have many examples and more information available.

  • Flexible and usable from scenarios, schedulers, triggers or other scripts
  • Lua support
  • Possible to control TCP-commands, uPnP, Sonos and RGB-lighting
  • Integration with weather forecast
  • Create all possible logical functions
  • Also usable for sequences and fades
  • Extensive logbook function available
  • Separate manuals available

Actions & triggers

With actions and triggers you can configure any event in the building or home installation as a trigger to perform other actions. It is also possible to set up additional constraints that are to be validated with the trigger. This makes it possible to add logic easily, that would otherwise require separate, difficult to configure components. With actions and triggers it is for instance possible to open or close several air vents based on limit values for the inside temperature, humidity and CO2 values or to start a script based on presence detection or an alarm.

  • Combination of Or and And ports possible
  • Useable with scripts, scenarios and presence detection
  • Multiple actions for one trigger
  • Use the weather forecast as a trigger
  • Use time conditions as a trigger
  • Extensive logbook function available
